Proficiency Exam
Procedure and rules for proficiency exam.
According to the PPGEE Internal Regulations and its Complementary Standard No. 6:
Art.21 Regular students of the Master's course in Electrical Engineering must demonstrate proficiency in English.
In addition to obtaining a master's degree, it is also necessary to complete and present a certificate and/or detailed documentation proving the skills assessed by an English language proficiency exam.
- Students, whether Brazilian or foreign, must submit proof of proficiency if required in the admission selection process. If not required, the proof must be submitted within 365 (three hundred and sixty-five) days from the date of enrollment in the PPGEE.
- The main, but not exclusive, exams accepted by the PPGEE are listed in Complementary Standard No. 6, along with the proficiency schools, the scores accepted by the program and consultation websites.
- The minimum score required by the PPGEE for the recognition of English language proficiency certificates must be equivalent to Level B1 (Lower Intermediate) for reading and textual interpretation skills, in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
- Certificates of English language proficiency issued no more than five years after the exam date will be accepted. This guideline applies to both English language proficiency exams whose certification validity is less than five years and English language proficiency exams whose certification validity is for life.
- For foreign students from non-Portuguese-speaking countries, obtaining a Master's degree requires, in addition to the English language proficiency exam, the completion and presentation of a certificate and/or detailed documentation proving the skills assessed by the Portuguese language proficiency exam.
