Photonics: Materials and Devices
This line of research is divided into three strands:
- Investigation of the properties of new semiconductor materials with potential for application in optoelectronic and photonic devices;
- Development of micro and nanofabrication processes, aimed at researching new photonic devices;
- Study and implementation of advanced characterization techniques, to investigate the properties of new materials and to evaluate the functioning of new devices, which envision applications for photovoltaic systems. The topics investigated within these three fronts cover the study of the electro-optical properties of new semiconductor materials; the simulation and optimization of micro and nano optoelectronic and photonic devices; the micro and nano manufacturing of new photonic devices; the implementation of new techniques for optical, electrical and magnetic characterization of new semiconductor materials and new devices manufactured for applications in micro and nano photonics.
